Privacy Policy

Overview

Jodoc is a document management application that runs on your own devices and infrastructure. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy covers the Jodoc desktop client, the mobile apps, the Jodoc server, and the Jodoc website, and explains what data Jodoc collects and how it is handled.

Your documents never leave your own devices and servers. The only information that can be sent to us is an optional error report — and only if you turn error reporting on yourself.

Data Storage

All documents, metadata, and application data are stored locally on your devices. If you use the sync feature, data is transmitted to your own self-hosted Jodoc server — never to third-party cloud services or servers operated by Jven Tech.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect, store, or have access to your documents or their contents.
• We do not collect personal information or account credentials from the desktop or mobile applications.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not collect product or usage analytics from the applications.
• We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Optional Error Reporting

Error reporting is off by default in every released version of Jodoc — desktop and mobile alike. Nothing is sent unless you turn it on yourself in Settings. If you have turned error reporting on, you can turn it off again at any time in the same place.

When error reporting is enabled, reports are sent to Sentry, which receives and processes them in its EU region. A report may contain:

• crash reports, including stack traces
• performance and diagnostic data
• device model, operating system version, and Jodoc version

Your documents and their contents are never included in an error report.

Reports are not linked to your identity. Jodoc sends them with personally identifiable information disabled, so no IP address, device name, or account is attached. The only identifier is a random id generated for your installation. Before a report leaves your device, a filter removes data matching common personal-data patterns.

Error reports are used solely to find and fix problems in Jodoc — never for tracking across apps or websites, product analytics, or advertising. In App Store privacy terms, this corresponds to Crash Data, Performance Data, and Other Diagnostic Data: collected, not linked to your identity, not used for tracking, and used for app functionality.

Website Analytics

The Jodoc website (jodoc.xyz) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully compliant with GDPR. No analytics are collected within the Jodoc application itself — the only data the application can send is the optional error report described above.

Synchronization

Jodoc's sync feature connects your devices to a server that you host and control. All communication uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS). Jven Tech does not operate sync servers and has no access to data transmitted between your devices.

OCR Processing

Optical character recognition (OCR) is performed locally on your device. No document content is sent to external services for text extraction.

Third-Party Services

Sentry is the only third-party service the Jodoc application can send data to, and only if you have enabled error reporting. Beyond that and the optional connection to your own self-hosted sync server, the application does not integrate with third-party services. No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
