An archive in Jodoc is called a vault, and it is the unit of everything: its own documents, its own tags, its own search. You can have more than one, and a device can be connected to several — which is how "my papers" and "the household papers" stay two different things without two installations.
Adding a device

Get a code from the server
Create one in the server's admin page for the archive you want to share.

Enter it in the app
The device connects itself, and you are done.

Choose how much it keeps
A full copy on the device, or nothing stored locally at all. You can change your mind later.
Both codes and connected devices are listed on the server, and both can be revoked. A lost laptop stops syncing the moment you remove it — it does not quietly keep an old copy in circulation.
Family and household
Give each person their own archive, share one for the household, or do both. Everyone reaches the same documents whether they are at home or out, and what is private stays private without a second server or a second subscription.
Where your files sit on each machine
On each computer you choose whether your original files stay exactly where you put them or move into the Jodoc archive. Your desktop can keep a tidy archive while your laptop leaves your working folders alone, and it is still the same documents on both.
